When you are a busy mom, you can often find that time is not on your side. You have so much to do on any given day, and often you can find that you never get through your to-do list (let alone started on it). When you are busy, you can find that your children’s emotional needs may not be fully met. When your children’s needs are not met or fulfilled, then poor behavior will follow, and of course, this will lead to greater stress. So, how can you start getting a better balance in your day, and how can you make this all-important time for your kids.

Be Prepared to Change

Making changes in your life and lifestyle can sometimes be easier said than done. To make more time for your children, you have to be prepared to change, learn and grow. If you are not prepared to change, then you will find that you will carry on as you do now and that nothing will change. When you are prepared to change, you may also see things differently too, and this can be positive for your perspective.

Get Help and Support

There is no shame in asking (and seeking) help and support, whether this is for you or for your family members. If you are looking after elderly relatives, or perhaps elderly parents, you can be torn, and you can find it is emotionally and physically draining on you and your family dynamic. This is, of course, not what you need or want. Reaching out to others and getting support and help is important. For example, if caring for elderly relatives is becoming too much for you and your family, then learn more  about what assisted living in Massachusetts looks like as this will give your relatives the independence that they need, and it will give you the time that you so sorely need. Also, look at reaching out to other moms and parents for their help and support – try to share school responsibilities and everyday tasks to give you more time to spend with your children.

Cut Down and Cut Back

You are most likely doing too much in a day as it is, and this cannot continue. It is important to look at what you are doing and cut down and cut back where you can. Cutting down and cutting back will give you more time. Often, you will find that little things can make the biggest difference. For example, instead of heading to the grocery store once or twice a week, order online – this will give you more quality time with your children. Or, cut down on your working hours (if you can) and look at flextime working – because this will also give you precious time with your children.

When you have more time for your children, you get a happier and healthier balance both in your family and in your life too. When you are not spreading yourself or your time too thinly on the ground, you will also get more enjoyment out of your children.
